Jake and I have been an "item" since we were in the sixth grade. This obviously meant that Jake and I did not go on dates. We saw each other through events that our families did together. I believe that this helped Jake's and my relationship immensely. Instead of getting to know each other alone, we really were dating the other's family. I learned about Jake from stories told by his parents, time spent together, and the countless conversations our families shared.
To this day I not only love Jake, but I love his family. I am so grateful for the "dates" Jake and I shared at the beginning of our relationship. Still, we were anxious to go on real dates, but we had to wait a couple years. Finally, Jake got his license. Then my parents made me wait a couple months after Jake could drive before I could ride with him. Then my lovely boyfriend took me on our first date to McDonald's. In his defense, it was later in the day, and I was craving a biscuit. And thanks to McDonald's all day breakfast menu, they now have the honor of being the location of our first date. After years and many daydreams of what my first date would be, it was McDonald's. But at the end of the day, it did not matter at all because I got to be with Jake.
Surprisingly enough, our McDonald's date was not hard to top. Jake and I have since gone on many dates to many different place. We actually have a list of all the places we want to go/eat and then we get to check it off once we have done it!
On our most recent date, Jake and I decided to go on a hike. It was so perfect. I was able to cross train, and the weather made for a very easy, enjoyable hike. Jake and I are definitely not big hikers, but we like to mix up our dates.
We started off the day with a nice lunch at Tandem Creperie and Coffeehouse in Traveler's Rest. If you local readers have never been, you must go. Whenever I walk in the door, I feel like I am in a place straight out of Pinterest.
The next step in our adventure was the forty minute car ride up the mountain. As Jake's jeep climbed up the mountain, we jammed out to my favorite music: "Easy Listening Radio" on Pandora. If you happen to listen to this and come across the song I Wonder Why, it is my favorite.
Once Jake and I arrived at the top of the mountain, we decided to go to the outlook before starting our hike. It was so beautiful. The fog was softly laying over the trees and the rivers and valleys were so beautiful to look down on.
The hike was super fun. I always enjoy spending time with Jake, especially when we combine my favorite thing: working out.
I recommend a hiking date if you're in need of a new and gorgeous view.
